Isaac Weekly.. : This gallery holds Isaac's "Photo of the Week" since he was born (May 8th 2007). We simply enjoy seeing how much he has grown by the week! Thank you for sharing the joy with us :)

Our little one....Less than 1 month old : Isaac Kang-Le Wooi; born May 8th, 2007 (Tuesday) at 5:54pm weighing 6 lb 13oz, and 19.5 inches long. Thank God for the safe labor & delivery with no complication & drug and for all the answered prayers. Isaac was very alert & stayed wide awake for more than 2 hours at birth. It was the most beautiful & sacred moment for both John & I for we are now 'born' as a family! Here are some photos taken on Isaac's 1st day, and some taken during his first week at home. We're so blessed to have such a healthy baby! Thank you for all your blessing, warm wishes & thanks for sharing this special time with us!

Our little one....Less than 1 month old

Isaac ~ 1-month-old (week5 to week8) : Many of these photos were taken during his first month - they look the same but if you paid more attention, you'd see his facial expressions! He has grown much. How time flew by! He now love to sleep on his belly and he started cooing and smile a lot more. He loves nursery rhymes too!

Isaac ~ 1-month-old (week5 to week8)

Isaac ~ 2-month-old (Week9 to Week12) : How time flew by! Isaac is now 3-month-old! A week before he turned 3-month-old he made a big progress while lying on his belly one evening. Out of the blue, he just lifted his head high up and started looking around with that proud "Hello World!!" facial expression. I guess all the tummy time paid off. He now has very strong neck muscle and upper body muscle. To us, this was a very exciting & proud moment. It's amazing to see how little thing such as this was taken for granted for, and now seeing our baby doing it - Wow! It's a great achievement! LOL. He's starting to get a lot more playful, and sometimes refuses to sleep or feed. Oh well, that's normal I suppose! He also likes to blow bubbles with his saliva, babbles a lot more, loves it when I read books to him, and he loves children's songs. "Itsy Bitsy Spider" is top on his fav list but it has to be sung jazzily. And oh he loves all his mobile. He has good eye tracking on anything that moves! We are truly thankful that he's developing and growing so well!

Isaac ~ 2-month-old (Week9 to Week12)

Isaac ~ 3-month-old (Week13 to Week16) : At 4-month-old, Isaac was at 14 ponds & 5 oz, and he's 25 inches tall. He's still in the 50th percentile of his peers. This month he has learnt a lot more new 'tricks' e.g. blowing bubbles into his milk bottle, or blowing his saliva at us, and at times he gaggles his milk in his throat. Yup, he's quite a rascal! He's very playful and laugh a lot, and so for the most part, he's a very happy baby. He's also love bath time a lot because he now knows how to splash and kick in the water. Sometime this month, we got to for up north to Breezy Point for a long weekend getaway. Isaac got to play in the sand for the first time. He enjoyed the time when we went around while carrying him in the baby carrier. He loved looking at things and touching things with different textures - what great explorer and adventurous spirit!

Isaac ~ 4-month-old (Week17 to Week20) : It was unbelievable how time flew by, Isaac turned 5 months old. He is learning how to grasp things better with his hands, and able to aim very well into his mouth! At times we caught how he would 'admire' his own hands, perhaps wondering how he could better manipulate those amazing fingers. This month we took him for apple picking and made him posed by some pumpkins which turned out to be quite great photo op for me! He has also started drooling a lot, and loves to gnaw/chew on everything and this can only mean teething has just begun, and so would the fussiness!. He also love to be held upright, and he likes to be in the standing position; He enjoys his exersaucer and swing too. Oh yes, he also learnt how to take off his mittens!

Isaac ~ 5-month-old (Week21 to Week24) : At 5 month-old, Isaac started his first solid of rice cereal. He really love it! He was also introduced some green peas and sweet potatoes. Soon more food will be added to his daily once a day menu. He can also sit unassisted very well, making dinning outside a lot easier as he can sit on restaurants' highchairs, and even on shopping cart when we go grocery shopping. It's a lot of fun seeing how he is also learning how to crawl - mostly squirming, or going backward with frustration when he realized he couldnt get to his destination. At the same time he has learnt to pull himself up standing which had us lower his mattress in his crib. We has also started a baby swim lesson with him at the YMCA. He loves the water so much!

Isaac ~ 5-month-old (Week21 to Week24)

Isaac ~ 6-month-old (Week25 to Week28) : At 6-month-old, Isaac has quickly learnt that life is so much fun! He is becoming more playful which makes bedtime a challenge! At his 6.5 month wellness checkup, his weight and height were still in the 50th percentile weighing about 17 pounds, and about 27 inches tall. A week before he turned 7-month-old, he started crawling on all four, and also trying to pull himself up standing. Our TV remote control had been a very attractive toy to him, and it gave him the greatest motivation to get to it. This month he also experienced his first time touching and playing in the snow when a snowstorm hit the metro area. Daddy and Grandpa took him sledding for the first time on a little slope right outside our home. We also took many photos for the upcoming Xmas, and Isaac also met the big merry guy, Santa for the first time at the Mall of America. As for solids, he really loves peas and the home made sweet potatoes. Prune puree has also been added to his menu. He disliked Avocado and Carrots but Mommy will continue trying and hoping that he'd accquire the taste for them. He also love chewing and nibbling on a small slice of fresh apple in a 'fresh food feeder' (prevent choking). And the biggest thing this month was that Isaac started going to daycare on a part time basis (only Monday and Tuesday) and he did very well. He played with new friends, and ate lunch very well according to the care giver at Maple Tree. Unfortunately he got his first double ear infection and his full blown cold (fever, cough and runny nose) after his first week at daycare.

Isaac ~ 6-month-old (Week25 to Week28)

Isaac ~ 7-month-old (Week29 to Week32) : Isaac is already 7-month-old and life is becoming more busy for us having to chase after him. He now crawls really fast. He always has something up his sleeves, always thinking on what to do next, and where to explore. This was a busy month for all of us as Christmas meant lots of gathering with friends, and family. Besides meeting Santa at the Mall of America (see previous month's gallery), we also took Isaac to meet another Santa (shhhh!! he didn't know it was a different Santa) at Macy for breakfast. He didn't care too much for that of course but had fun playing with Cheerios and messing up the table and floor. And yes, he ate Cheerio for the first time, and he liked it. He also loves eating pear, and the porridge I cooked for him. The weather has been very dry which worsened his eczema esp. on his cheeks. We could only lube him in Aquaphor lotion daily to battle it. Isaac loves grocerry shopping with us as he sits very well in shopping carts, and he also dines out with us; always behaving very well at the table. He loves crawling after balls, and playing simple things at home like a laundry basket, empty boxes or plastic bottles and of course banging on the keys on daddy's laptop (he even managed to rip a key of my laptop!). That's a 7-month-old active, and happy baby for you!

Isaac ~ 8-month-old (Week33 to Week36) : 8-month-old Isaac enjoys more solids including more vegetable like egg plants, and he is better at pincer grip (picking food using his thumb & finger). He also learned to drink from a sippy cup, and of course that makes drinking water an easy thing. He can now climbs up the stairs (all the way up) and also learned how to go down steps with his back down first (instead of forward facing). He just loves climbing around, and looking for every op to climb higher. He also loves crawling in the tunnel at an indoor park nearby, and that made me buy him a collapsable tunnel for home play too. We took him to the Winter Carnival for the first time to see ice sculptures, people ice skating, and some other performances at the Landmark Center.

Isaac ~ 8-month-old (Week33 to Week36)

Isaac ~ 9 month-old (Week37 to Week40) : Isaac weighed 17lb 6 oz at his 9-month-old wellness checkup, and he has dropped from the 50th to the 25th percentile range. Anyway, developmental wise he's doing just great according to the doctor. As we can tell, he's always on the go, very active, and for the most time a very happy, socialable baby. This month we celebrated Isaac's first Chinese New Year with some friends and family members. He of course had no clue what angpao was but enjoyed receiving them, and trying to chew on them. The biggest achievement so far is that he now sleeps by himself in his crib, in the nursery. He also falls asleep on his own when we know he is getting sleepy; so we just put him into the nursery and he falls asleep till his next feeding in the middle of the night. We did a lot this month: went down to Winona to celebrate Makenzie's birthday, and Isaac enjoyed playing with her. We also took him to a tropical beach party at the MN Zoo where they had a huge indoor sand pit for kids. Isaac loved playing with the sand but we had to quit when he got hungry and decided to eat the sand. He also enjoyed the walk sitting on daddy's backpack (baby carrier) through the indoor rainforest animal exhibit, aquariums and he esp. loves the dolphins. We also took him to the Children's Museum for lots of indoor crawling, climbing & exploring. I'm sure he will enjoy the outdoor park once the weather gets warmer to be outside.

Isaac ~ 9 month-old (Week37 to Week40)

Isaac ~ 10-month-old (Week41 to Week44) : Isaac started fulltime daycare this month when Grandpa left for Malaysia. He's one of the few that started FT at 10-month-old (usually babies start going FT at 3-month-old). He adjusted very well at daycare and he usually comes home exhausted from all the fun play at daycare. Life at home is very different without Grandpa, and for the first couple of days, he kept crawling into Grandpa's room looking for him. I bet he missed Grandpa! This month is another busy month for Isaac; he learns many new things like signing to indicate 'more' for more food, and 'all done' when he's full and wants to get off the high chair. He finally claps his hand when prompted; or when he's happy. He also does 'bye-bye' when prompted (most of the time).

I think it must be a big change going to daycare FT. Isaac now plays by himself even at home. He pulls out toys that fascinate him, and plays by himself and after he gets bored with it, he moves on to other toys. So he's Mr. Independent these days,and of course he decides when he wants to be changed and most of the time he takes off crawling while changing (look at all the nude pics!). He also loves to play ball with us; throwing, rolling, catching and crawling after it. And oh yes, he's a 'big boy' now because he beginning to refuse baby food and he now knows how to drink with a straw too - yah, just like we do! And bad news for us, he now knows how to open cabinet doors, and get the kick out of pulling everything out of the cabinets! Time for more baby proofing!

Healthwise he has not been too good lately with the bouts of cold he got from daycare, and from daddy. He got an ear infection (right ear), and when his cough wouldn't go away, we found out that he has 'children's asthma' which isn't like the normal asthma and 99% of the infants who get this grows out of it by kindergarten. It usually is triggered by a cold. Meanwhile we'll just have to keep him safe by making sure that he doesnt overwork his lungs and whenever he breathes hard, we use a nebulizer with medication that helps relaxes the muscle of the airways to ease breathing. Even with this condition, it doesn't stop him from playing. We see no change in his active play and so that's a good thing! He's just one happy-go-lucky baby!

This month we also celebrated Isaac's YeeCheong George's birthday via webcam. So we ate YeeCheong birthday cake on his behalf!

Isaac ~ 10-month-old (Week41 to Week44)

Isaac ~ 11-month-old month (Week45 to Week48) : In his 11th month, Isaac started to stand a little more steady. He was able to stand unassisted for more than 5 seconds, and able to walk with a walker much better. However, when asked to walk or when we held onto his hands to encourage him to walk, he'd pulled his legs up and refused to do so. He wasn't interested in walking at all but would rather climb higher. This month he has finally 'conquered' the massage lounger we have in the living room. He loves climbing onto it and sit there to 'relax'. It's his special chair now. He also loves going out for a ride on his new tricycle which we bought as his early 1st birthday present. Food wise, Isaac was introduced to oranges and strawberries and he loved both of them very much.

When the weather was slightly warmer than the usual cold Spring weather, we'd take him out for walks and rides. We took him to a nearby beach & playground (where we had his full moon picnic) and Isaac enjoyed playing in the sand, and swinging on a swing. He loves going down a slide too!

Isaac ~ 11-month-old month (Week45 to Week48)

Isaac is ONE!!!! (Week48 to Week52) : We had a few birthday parties for Isaac. On the exact day, we had a small party at the Tan's family since they were not able to make it for the official bday party. Then the weekend of his bday, we had an official one at Grand Buffet restaurant in its private party room. Isaac wasn't feeling quite himself at the party after his 1-year-old shots the day prior. He still do very well despite his discomfort from the vaccination. A couple of weeks later, the Wongs came up to visit us from Winona and to celebrate with Isaac again. We were so happy that many friends could join us to celebrate this huge milestone for Isaac, and truly blessed with LOTS of gifts!

So finally Summer is here and Isaac is the happiest when we can all be outside. On warmer days, I put out a small pool for him on our patio. He loves the water too much! We also take him out to the playground a lot. It gives Isaac lots of play climbing up the steps to the slide, and for me to enjoy the laughter and smiles seeing Isaac coming down the slides without help. He knows how to climb up the steps, and come down the slides all by himself!

I took Isaac to the annual Flinthill's children's festival in StPaul. We saw the parade too and it was Isaac's first. He didn't want to sit in his stroller like most babies his age did, and wanted to sit by me and other kids on the curbside of the road. He did really well when I explained to him that he was not supposed to crawl away. Many passerbys commented that he was so cute, and the tiniest sitting on the street like that!

Right before his birthday, Isaac could walk about 5 to 6 steps unassisted. We were truly proud to witness that big milestone and knew that soon he'd be taking off on his own. Besides the fun, good things - Isaac has started throwing lots of temper tantrums. He would cry loudly, and roll on the floor. We try our best never to give in and so usually we just let him roll on the floor until he stops. He did that a few times in public even at the children's festival and I managed to take a few shots of him in action too! It was certainly unpleasant for me to have my sweet baby make a scene in public but oh well, I just cannot give in and look at it on the brighter side; it's part of growing and he somewhat looks quite funny when he throws a tantrum.

We recently got him a small bean bag and he loves that thing so much that no one can sit on it. If I sat on it, he would try pushing me away! And look at the photos of how he sits there like a big boy, relaxing and eating his snack.

This month we also celebrated Isaac's "Ber Ber" Bryan's 21st birthday at home with a tiny little muffin!

Isaac is ONE!!!! (Week48 to Week52)

Isaac ~ 13-month-old (Week53 to Week56) : Isaac has started walking very well this month. He has also discovered how to walk backward and thought that was very funny. He would try walking backward to everywhere sometimes and would laugh out loud about it. His exploration continues esp. in the kitchen playing with the bowls, pans and spoons. He's good that so far he's practising good listening at not touching the breakables in that one cabinet that I allow him to open. I put in some plastic bowls for him to play with in there. Sometimes Isaac loves to walk/crawl away naked esp. when we need to change him. This makes changing his diaper a very challenging task.

We all enjoy grilling out on the patio these days to enjoy the great weather outside, and so Isaac gets to dine outside with us too. He loves it esp. when the opposite neighbor's dogs are out on the patio too. Isaac's pretend play of pretending to eat continues, and he also pretends to sweep the floor and try to follow whatever we do. Isaac experienced his first time walking barefooted outside on the grass and road. We think that's a great tactile experience for him. Inside the house, Isaac also has a secret hiding place - under the table! Sometimes he goes in there and sit and I have to pretend to find him and so our little game of hide-and-seek begins.

During the long July 4th weekend we went to visit some friends in Chicago. It was a great, relaxing vacation without much itinerary planned. We had a picnic by Lake Michigan, visited more friends and walked everywhere in the city. Isaac did very well on the road with us, and behaved very well throughout the trip. He's a great traveller!

Isaac ~ 13-month-old (Week53 to Week56)

Isaac ~ 14-month-old (Week57 to Week60) : Isaac is teething again. This time it's the molars and not just one, but 3 coming in at the same time (upper right, and 1 upper left). With this, he loves cold things which help soothes and numbs the painful gums. So we allow him to eat some frozen yogurt, ice cream and even popsicle (flavor ice) at home. He continues to be very curious with everything around him. We have lots of fun wherever we go; be it at a store, festival or at gatherings with friends.

Daddy is keen to make Isaac a fisherman just like YehYeh and himself. Yes, Isaac already has his own fishing rod! When daddy shops for fishing baits/gears, Isaac enjoys playing with the fishing rods on sale. We saw a mini fishing vest too and it looked cute on Isaac. Hopefully one day he'll be good at fishing!

We brought Isaac to a local Dragon festival - dragonboat racing. Unfortunately the race wasn't on but we saw some practices. Isaac wasn't interested but he was into the cultural dances esp. the Korean drum performance which was WAY TOO long for us. He sat in his stroller watching through the entire thing! Phew! We continue to bring him out to the playground almost every day, or to go for a stroll around our neighborhood after dinner. Isaac has developed very good gross motor skills by now - able to climb, better balancing, walk steadily and even quite fast too!

At the Iyegar's residence by a lake, Isaac had his first 'walk' into the lake. He seemed quite natural with water, and did not fear a thing about the huge mass of water of the lake. He walked right into the water, playing by the shore. When uncle Stan took his hand, Isaac led him into deeper water up till Isaac's shoulder. Isaac then knew when to stop walking into deeper, and turned back to shore. HOw amazing huh!

Since Isaac's becoming better at pretend play, we bought him a used set of play kitchen and a playhouse. These toys should help us all last through the long winter with lots of indoor play.

Isaac ~ 14-month-old (Week57 to Week60)

Isaac ~ 15-month-old (Week61 to Week64) : August was a crazy month for us. We were trying to enjoy summer with all our might! At Isaac's 15-month-old wellness checkup, he weighed about 21 pounds, and about 31 inches tall. That puts him in the 10th percentile for weight, 50th for height, and 50th for his head circumference. He's still considered 6 months ahead developmental growth according to the doctor. I think the reason why Isaac isn't gaining as much weight is because he's way too active! He does eat well! He has just started feeding himself on every meal even at home. He uses his spoon very well. He can even scoop up the Cheerios in a bowl of milk. For lunch/dinner he usually eats whatever we serve and he loves rice!

We joined some family friends for a camping trip to Forrestville State Park. It was Isaac's first. He totally loved the experience. When we set up the tent, he thought that was the coolest thing. He started laughing out loud when he saw the tent went up. He loved rolling on the sleeping bags inside too. Overall he did well, and slept well inside the tent with us. He enjoyed his time - playing with other older kids (the closest to his age was 7).

The following weekend after our camping, we went to join some other friends at their campsite at Willow River State Park. We went to the water falls and upon arriving the falls, Isaac was mesmerized. He was so curious and pointed to the waterfalls. It was a great place, with small streams of water running on the side whcih Isaac coul sit on a rock and play water. He didn't want to leave although he was so exhausted toward the end of the day.

On the last weekend of Aug. we joined the Jenniges for a day at the great Minnesotan get together at the State Fair. We took the day off on Monday to avoid the crowd. It was a great day pigging out on unhealthy, cheesy, greasy fair food. As for Isaac he enjoyed the Miracle of Birth barn where he got to see lots of barn animals and their babies. He also enjoyed watching a parade, and watching Nick and Makayla going on rides. Isaac dared to stroke and touch the lamb and sheep. He also learn to "Baaa" like the sheep in the 'Baaaa Barn'.

Isaac ~ 15-month-old (Week61 to Week64)

Isaac @ Bay area, California (week65) : For the long Labor day weekend (Aug 30th to Sept 2nd) we went on a short family vacation to visit David in California. It was Isaac's first flight and he did well aboard. On the first day, David took us to Monterey Bay for Isaac to visit the aquarium. Isaac loved it very much, looking at many different types of jelly fish and fish. We also took Isaac down to the beach at Monterey Bay. He was very excited when he first saw the beach because he loved the sand. When he saw the white bubbles from the waves, he was curious and walked out to check the sea. He wasn't afraid and thought it was interesting that the water went back and forth from the shore.

Because Isaac loved the beach, David brought us to Santa Cruz the next day. There Isaac had a lot of fun rolling around, and playing with the fine sand. He also loved the seashore there. Unfortunately the water was too cold to swim!

On our last day we went down to San Francisco to the Fisherman's whaft for Isaac to see the sea lion & seals basking on the pier. We also picnic nearby the Ghiradelli Square on a slope overlooking the bay. Thanks to David and Heather, they made this a wonderful family vacation!
